Long Beach Takesover Jacksonville
Current Jacksonville Jaguar star Tight End Marcedes Lewis is yet another Poly graduate who has excelled beyond measure on the gridiron. After his tenure at Long Beach Poly Lewis carried on his career as a Bruin at UCLA where he played in a total of 49 games, 32 of which he started in. Lewis was a force at UCLA ranking 9th in overall career receiving yards, 1st amongst his position with 126 receptions, and he also holds the all-time receiving/touchdown records with 1,571 yards, and 21 touchdowns in his career as a Bruin! Along with his stellar career came many awards like first-team all Pac-10, first-team All-American, and Lewis also won the John Mackey Award, which is annually rewarded to the top TE in the college football. In his last year at UCLA Lewis went out with a BANG! Averaging 12.7yds per game to record a total of 741yds, and 10TDs on 58 receptions certainly left his mark at the Rose Bowl Arena. In the 2006 NFL Draft Lewis was chosen 28th in the first round to the Jaguars where he has been for all 10 seasons of his career. Lewis has been a key part of the Jaguars offense recording 3,837yds, and 27TDs on 300+ career receptions! To wrap up this past season he ended with 16 receptions averaging 14yds per catch, and 227yds on the year. Lewis will definetely go down as one of best TE to ever play the game, and the fact that he's one of many professional products of LBP just goes to show how great the green and gold really is!
